Vietnam Adoption Program Description: Binh Thuan and pursuing other locations. ACW provides pre-adoption classes and child care class. We prepare the home study for VA and DC residents, authenticate the dossier, and provide placement services and travel assistance.
Humanitarian Work in Vietnam: In 2000
through 2002, our work came in the form of direct donations to orphanages
of toys, monetary donations, and purchases of items such as a refrigerator,
air conditioner, and water filter machine.
In 2003, we gave a substantial contribution to complete the building of
an orphanage in Binh Duong. It was completed in 2004. We have partially
supported children in that orphanage with direct donations of money for
food, gifts of toys, and books.
In 2004, we began our largest project in Binh Thuan in which we provided
the funding for an orphanage for infants and toddlers. In 2005, the kitchen
was completed. We gave money to build four houses for poor families. Fifty
elderly have been given medications and one extra meal per day.
Requirements: Singles and married couples are permitted to adopt. Upper age limit is not specifically known at this time. Must be at least 25 years of age and meet USCIS income minimums plus income to support a child.
Estimated Cost: Vietnam will provide a fee schedule probably in the fall. Until then, we can estimate that the agency fee is $4,000, home study is $1200, and foreign fee will probably be about the same as previous Vietnam costs. USCIS fees and travel expenses are additional.
